Donations are encouraged to fund conservation research that requires OSC to divert and provide its own professional resources. Charitable contributions can offset tax and any interested parties are invited to contact us for further details.

Undergraduates (minimum grade of upper second class or 2:1), graduates and post graduates are invited to submit applications for internships, traineeships, research opportunities and co-supervision of degree projects. Internships are usually completely voluntary, so prospective candidates are reminded that grant awards and scholarships may be available for individuals who meet the criteria for certain funding bodies e.g. Natural Environment Research Council (NERC), but we cannot provide advice or guidance in this respect. Traineeships are usually remunerated and, since 2005, we have provided offshore training for no less than seven candidates. Applications must include a CV not exceeding two pages and we encourage electronic submission with the email subject heading ‘Training & Recruitment’, but hardcopies addressed to the same heading are also accepted.

For several years, we have assisted in teaching undergraduate field courses to both Cambridge and Leeds University students in marine biology, marine life identification and survey techniques, at the Field Studies Council’s Dale Fort facilities in Pembrokeshire, Wales. All educational institutions are invited to contact us for further details. We have also provided marine biology courses and underwater guides for the recreational SCUBA diver training industry.
